From 1 July 2024, Solar Victoria's new Notice to Market 2024-2025 comes into effect, introducing several new mandatory requirements aimed at enhancing consumer protections and installation quality under the Solar Homes Program.
These changes are designed to support the Victorian Government’s circular economy, contribute to energy grid stability, and ensure installations conform to industry standards and best practices.
What does it mean for solar installers?
Some mandatory requirements include
- Necessity for an active internet connection for Solar PV and batteries
- Retailers’ obligations to ensure battery installers are provided with correct labelling as per AS/NZS 5139
- Retailers’ obligation to remove solar PV modules and/ or system components from residence
- No Telemarketing or door-door sales of systems eligible under the Solar Homes Program
- Interface protection for power sharing devices greater than 30kVA
To comply, ensure all products included in the new quotes meet these requirements by 30 June, or swap non-compliant products for ones that meet the new standards.
These measures aim to lift the standards and quality of installations, strengthening consumer protections and supporting sustainable energy practices.
